Does ALTR support split classes or teaching across multiple year levels?

Yes! ALTR Support Split Classes. If you are a teacher across two year groups, ALTR allows you to switch between classes.

Principals or ALTR Admin can set up users to have split classes. Instructions below.

Log into ALTR and navigate to Users

Click Add User - Fill out your name and email address and choose Teacher. Tick the Split Class box

Choose Year levels and Name the class

The teacher will receive a email inviting them to ALTR.

Once the teacher logs in. They will be able to switch between classes using the Class switcher.

Note: Data is not merged for the classes. Each year group/Class is treated as individual classes.

What about teaching across multiple year levels?

We've received many requests to allow for teachers to teach across more than 2 year levels and as of February 2026, this is currently in development. Once implemented, it will work in the same way as described above, however when adding the teacher it will be possible to select multiple year levels (e.g. year 1, year 2, year 3, year 4 etc). Once added, that teacher will be able to easily switch between the year levels using the year level switcher as shown above.

While we don't have an exact time frame for this to be released, we're aiming for late Feb/early March.
