How do I enter or edit results from a past testing window?

You can still record or correct results for a testing window that has closed. Use the Past Tests tab on the Tests page, then click View results.

Once a testing window ends, it moves to the Past Tests tab and is marked Completed. The "Test Now", "Administer Tests" and "Scan Tests" buttons only work during the current window, so they are greyed out for earlier terms. In Term 4 every window for the year has closed, so the Tests page shows "Testing for this year is complete. See Past Tests for earlier windows."

Tests page in Term 4

This is expected. Your results can still be entered. There are two ways in, depending on whether you are working through a class pile or one student.

Option 1: a whole class for one testing window

Best when you have a pile of paper tests from one window, for example the end of Term 2.

  1. Select Tests from the left-side menu.
  2. Click the Past Tests tab at the top of the page.
  3. Find the window you want, for example "Term 2 Week 10 Testing" (marked Completed).
  4. Click View results in that window's header.

A results table opens with a row for each student and a column for each test in that window.

Option 2: one student across every past window

Best when you need to fill gaps or fix a mistake for a single student.

  1. Select Students from the left-side menu.
  2. Find the student and click the clipboard icon on their row (it shows "View results" when you hover over it).

A table opens listing every closed testing window this year, with each test and its result.

Recording or correcting a result

In either table, a score such as 3/5 is a result already recorded (green for a pass, red for a fail). A dash (-) means nothing has been recorded yet.

  1. Click a dash to record a missing result, or click a score to correct it.
  2. Mark each word Correct or Incorrect, copying from the student's paper test.
  3. Add any notes in Additional Comments (optional).
  4. Click Save result. The button stays disabled until every word is marked.

If a result already exists, ALTR warns you that saving will overwrite it.

Good to know

  • It won't move students on. Results entered here are added to the student's test history but do not change which test they are up to now.
  • Class teachers only. You can enter results for students in your own class. Principals and admins can't enter results on a teacher's behalf.
  • Years 1 to 6. Early Years and Foundation results are not entered this way.
  • This year only. You can enter results for any window that has closed this calendar year (Term 1 Week 1, Term 1 Week 10, Term 2 Week 10 and Term 3 Week 10). Earlier years can't be added.
  • Nothing to switch on. No school setting or approval is needed, and ALTR support can't reopen a testing window. The Past Tests tab is the way to catch up.
