What happens if a student keeps failing a test?
Given the range in ability present in most classrooms, it's not uncommon to encounter students who will fail tests after repeated attempts - here is how this scenario is handled in ALTR:
- The student should undertake the test as per the standard schedule.
- If the student doesn't achieve a 'pass' mark on the test (or if they demonstrate negative observations which the teacher feels warrant the student taking the test again), the test will automatically be scheduled to be undertaken again at a later date, often 2-3 weeks after the initial test.
- In most instances, if the student fails the test again and continues to do so during subsequent retests, the same test will continue being rescheduled for the student. The exception to this is for tests in Term 4 of Early Years or Foundation, where students will automatically continue past 1.3b regardless of the result. This is to allow them to gain more experience with the tests.
- Once the student passes this test, the scheduling of subsequent tests will be automatically added to their schedule.
